Pear Infused White Balsamic Vinegar

Pear Infused White Balsamic Vinegar. All the way from Leavenworth, WA from a tiny little place in a basement called The Oil & Vinegar Cellar. A 375 mL bottle that travelled carefully from one side of North America to the other.

The company is owned by co-worker V's friend. I'm a sucker for gourmet products, especially when they're sold by small business owners that are women. So I did not hesitate to place my order when co-worker V placed hers. The only hesitation occurred when I had to choose from the interesting selection of flavours. I went with something completely foreign to me.I'd never had white balsamic vinegar nor pear infused vinegar.

The cost was $18 US per bottle. But the kicker was the shipping - it cost almost as much.

Review:

I wasn't sure how I would like this but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't tend to care for fruity-flavoured things that normally aren't.

Thie vinegar didn't have an artificial pear flavour and it wasn't overly sweet. It seemed to have the essence of the fruit. To me, a true meaning of 'infused'. It truly tasted like pear.

I've drizzled the vinegar on salads and plates of veggies and have found that nothing else needs to be added to it - no salt, no oil.

I'm not sure if the while balsamic vinegar normally has a less prominent flavour than the red, but this one had a much milder one than the vinegar I'm used to.

This vinegar would be delicious on vanilla ice cream - it's my next way to try it! And the next time an order is placed - I'll give another one a shot!
