We happened upon The Mill Tavern as we were looking for a place to have dinner. We had already been turned away from our first choice, and our second, in downtown Manotick, in the south end of Ottawa.
It seemed quaint and comfortable and the menu looked decent, traditional pub fare.
Dark wood throughout, dim lighting, and cozy seating made for a fairly intimate and relaxed meal. Sort of like gourmet pub.

The hubby had the Montreal style smoked meat sandwich on a breadzel bun with Swiss cheese and hot mustard.

The friend M and I both had Fish & Chips. British style battered halibut fish & chips served with tartar sauce with sea salt and malt vinegar crust.

As a special that night, free dessert with the purchase of a main. Two out of three meals were eligible. Our selection: deep-fried Mars bar and apple crisp.

Review:
Awesome, AWESOME, fish, and pretty good chips too. The batter was light and crispy and we figured probably made from salt and vinegar chip. The ratio fish-batter was perfect! And the fish was tasty and juicy on its own. The fries, like a chip wagon, the best. Tartar sauce, homemade of course.
The hubby really enjoyed his sandwich, especially the bread.
The apple crisp was good, but average. The Mars bar... Mmmm. Hard to describe the deliciousness but here goes: greasy (not too much), gooey, crispy, sweet, just the right size.
I'd eat here again, maybe even on purpose. The service was really good and the prices, reasonable.

What an interesting restaurant to visit for, the dim lighting makes it more favorable for person like me whose want to eat alone. Thanks for sharing your review here. I'm looking forward to visit this restaurant someday.
